Compliance Engineer – Omaha, NE
We are seeking a hands-on Compliance Engineer to join our team in Omaha, NE. In this role, you will work closely with technicians, engineers, product development teams, and third-party certification bodies to support validation projects, product testing, prototype building, and test equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure product compliance with national and international safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to prevent compliance issues.
- Review ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) for alignment with NRTL files and Environmental Directives.
- Research, interpret, and apply regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, NFPA, FCC, and other NRTLs.
- Maintain and manage product safety listings, certification markings, and compliance databases.
- Support product launch activities by preparing and submitting regulatory documentation.
- Prepare test procedures, protocols, and investigative reports.
- Document and file Declarations of Conformity.
- Evaluate and recommend vendors, components, and compliance methodologies.
- Coordinate with test laboratories, including cost estimation and scheduling.
- Act as UL gatekeeper and manage relationships with regulatory compliance partners.
- Light travel may be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2–5 years of compliance engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards: UL, NEC, NFPA, FCC, and Environmental Directives such as REACH and RoHS.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic and mechanical drawings.
- Skilled in writing test standards, procedures, and technical reports.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design, including electrical contact design, sliding contacts, and basic electrical principles.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
