Summary
As a Technical Writer III at UnityTec in support of the Marine Corp Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany GA, you will play a vital role in developing, editing, and formatting technical documentation, including performance work statements, manuals, and procedural guides to support military logistics, maintenance, and operational processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide support by providing a variety of duties relating to administrative programs. Utilizing knowledge of facilities, facilities maintenance tasks, trades capabilities and government and industry standards and specifications develop technical documents and performance work statements by researching work order and customer requirements, estimating material cost, and initial man hour requirements using industry recognized estimating software applications.
- Analyze and review customer requests to determine work requirements, develop performance work statements, scopes of work, and required documentation for inclusion into delivery orders or task orders for existing contracts and develop cost estimates.
- Revise or write material for reports, briefs, proposals, and related technical operation, and maintenance of industrial machinery.
- Observe production, developmental or experimental activities to verify the provided operating procedures.
- Access manufactures’ catalog, drawings and other data relative to operations, maintenance, specifications, and product samples to integrate and explain operating procedures, and production cycles.
- Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, style, and terminology, maintain records and files of work and revisions, select material for publication and arrange for distribution of material.
- Apply performance standards and cost estimating methods to develop comprehensive independent estimates.
- Provide agendas and minutes of all formal reviews and briefings.
- Maintain a file of started, completed and ongoing work order forms.
- Prepare reports as required to document the daily actions assigned.
- Onsite support required during normal working hours.
Requirements
- Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work independently.
- One (1) year experience working in a professional office setting.
- Proficient with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office 365) to perform support functions in production control.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate and resolve complex communication or logistical related issues.
Minimum Education/Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in a field of study related to Industrial Maintenance Technology or Engineering Technology or five (5) years’ experience working as a specification writer or engineering technician.
- Favorably completed National Agency Check (NAC). - i.e. - Public Trust or higher
