The Food Service Operation Worker is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food in large quantities while maintaining high standards of sanitation and cleanliness to reduce the risk of food infection.
Required Productivity :
Complete assigned tasks within a reasonable time frame and within a specified range of errors.
Schedule Requirements :
Forty-hour work week, beginning on Sunday and ending on Saturday.
The department is open from 5 AM to 7 PM every day of the year.
Staff will be required to work 2 weekends and be off 1 weekend.
Employees must be available to work any shifts within the operating hours as per the given schedule.
Job Functions :
Food Preparation and Cooking :
Processes, prepares, and cooks a variety of foods into various consistencies and portion sizes for regular and modified diets.
Kitchen Equipment Operation :
Operates electrical and mechanical kitchen equipment with moving parts and high temperatures.
Utilizes sharp utensils safely.
Bends / stoops and lifts items up to 40 lbs unassisted and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
Serving Line Setup :
Sets up the serving line and serves food onto trays for individuals (tray line and cafeteria).
Portions food into small containers or onto food trays requiring repetitive motion.
Physical Activity :
Walks / stands 80% of the workday.
Ensures safety on wet and potentially slippery floors by wearing slip-resistant shoes.
Cleaning and Sanitizing :
Performs cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment, utensils, fixtures, floors, and vehicles.
Duties include sweeping, mopping, taking trash to the dumpster, operating a dish machine, and washing dishes in a 3-compartment sink.
Vehicle Operation and Safety :
Operates vehicles and / or acts as a vehicle safety spotter behind backing vehicles.
Climbs up / down from vehicles.
Requires walking and pushing food carts.
Cash Handling :
Operates a cash register.
Qualifications :
Previous experience in food service or related field is preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical ability to perform the job functions, including lifting heavy items and standing for long periods.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of sanitation and cleanliness.
Skills :
