Overview
Compensation Consultant
Full-time, Day shift
Location: Remote/work from home
Primarily responsible in administering and supporting compensation policies and programs, developing compensation analysis plans, performing market pricing, maintaining system job architecture, and participating in salary planning activities. The compensation consultant plays a major role at UnityPoint Health by providing direct customer service, research, analysis, and governance support to the enterprise in managing our compensation programs to attract, recognize and retain top talent.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Compensation COE Manager in the development, implementation and management of base pay structures and variable pay compensation programs for all employees, except those in designated areas, to support the Total Rewards Strategy, market competitiveness and business objectives of UnityPoint Health.
- Serves as a consultant and advocate to business stakeholders in understanding and applying compensation philosophy and practices.
- Participates in administering annual compensation programs including but not limited to non-executive short term incentive program, merit awarding, and annual market analysis.
- Using market pricing software, participates in surveys, conducts market analysis on both current base and variable pay (including differentials, on-call pay, non-monetary, etc.)
- Interprets survey data and prepares statistical cost analysis and data modeling using the information to make recommendations regarding future compensation trends to leadership ensuring UPH can attract and retain high quality talent while maintaining a proper balance between compensation and the financial performance of UPH.
- Consults with business partners to evaluate job content and team member responsibilities by auditing job content and their match to team member job duties; making recommendations for reclassifications; preparing or revising job descriptions to reflect job responsibilities, activities, duties and requirements; identifying new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade and FLSA classification; and partners with talent acquisition to determine pay rates for new hires when needed.
- Assist with the development and delivery of training and communications on a variety of compensation programs.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, or Business or equivalant experience
Experience:
- 1 year experience in compensation, human resources, or finance.
- Preferred: 3 years experience in compensation, human resources, or finance.
- experience with at least 1 year in compensation.
Certifications:
- Certified Compensation Professional within 2 years of hire
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and databases.
- Knowledge and experience in compensation philosophy.
- Proficient in use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essentials of the job.
