Dinning Services Associate
Grundy County Memorial Hospital
Part-Time; 24 Hours per week; 6am-2:30pm or 10:30am-7pm
The Dining Services - Cook is responsible for high quality, timely, full meal preparation including entrees, side dishes, salads, sandwiches, soups, breads, desserts, and snacks. The Cook will ensure foods are prepared in a safe, quality and scientific manner. The Cook will portion and dish foods and assemble patient, café, and catering meals. The Cook will serve as a resource and leader in the kitchen in the absence of the Dining Services Manager.

Responsibilities
- Supports the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
- Maintains computerized cardex. Records and communicates diet orders and changes accurately and effectively.
- Prepares, portions, and dishes quality foods according to the menu, production schedule, and recipes.
- Cooks foods to appropriate temperatures and maintains it at proper levels throughout service.
- Oversees general food production throughout shift.
- Ensures compliance with state local and regulatory agencies as it relates to receiving, storage, preparation, holding, and serving of foods.
- Assists with the receiving, storing, inventorying, and ordering of food supplies.
- Understands modified diets and food allergies and intolerances providing special requests as needed and always works toward patient nutritional well-being and satisfaction.
- Guides patients to appropriate food choices within their diet prescription and according to their nutritional care plan.
- Assists patients with menus, questions, complaints, and concerns, with compassion. Provides special request foods as able.
- Delivers accurate, quality food for patients in a timely manner using exceptional customer service strategies.
- Maintains kitchen sanitation, safety standards, and cleaning schedule.
- Practices proper sanitation techniques and stores kitchen equipment appropriately.
- Washes dishware, service ware, silverware, pots & pans, cups, glasses, containers using hand and mechanical methods. Cleans and organizes storage and work areas. Cleans and sanitizes work surfaces.
- Operates the point of sale system with accuracy and according to established cashier rules.
- Performs routine assignments in cafe and kitchen. Is a team player in serving food, clearing dishes, and clean up. Racks dishes to be washed in the dishmachine. Completes assigned cleaning. Sweeps and mops floor.
Qualifications
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Prior quantity food preparation or made-to-order meal preparation experience required. Formal culinary education preferred.
Food sanitation certification preferred.
Must complete modified diet and sanitation study courses as provided by Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
Must be able to work as part of a team maintaining a positive, effective work environment.
Efficient and organized in order to meet service timelines.
