Overview:
UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital
Full-Time Benefit: 1st Shift; 1.0 FTE

Performs a variety of complex functions including coordinator, educator, classroom/learning facilitator, communicator, and planner for the educational and learning experience needs of UnityPoint Health Waterloo and UPH- Marshalltown. Responsible for coordinating general and clinical orientation, individual student rotations, and job shadow opportunities for the Waterloo region. Assists with the facilitation of mandatory in-services, staff education programs, approved continuing education courses and other training as indicated. Serves as the liaison with Des Moines University (DMU) Office of Clinical Affairs in the oversight of the clinical rotation of third-year medical students and associated activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for coordinating functions and processes associated with general orientation, clinical orientation, and electronic medical record software training.
  • Responsible for coordination of AHA courses for the Waterloo region.
  • Coordinates the development of new/improved computer-based learning modules.
  • Provides coordination, support, and oversight for the education/training needs and activities for DMU students, including the provision of on-going support.
  • Responsible for the coordination of health care related learning opportunities including but not limited to job shadows, career observation, and internships.
  • Serves on hospital committees, project teams and task forces, as assigned.
  • Participates in planning departmental goals and provides input for departmental budget and expense management.
  • Acts as an instructor, facilitator and educator in orientation and other educational offerings for team members in the region.
  • Assesses learning needs of team members and adjusts education, accordingly, providing support to ensure an optimal learning experience.
  • Utilizes and applies principles of adult learning and health literacy.
  • Communicates effectively with people of diverse audiences.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the learning experience through measurements and feedback.
  • Assists with designing, developing, and organizing new educational programs.
  • Collaborates with the Learning Management System administrator for the Waterloo Region to ensure documentation of completed learning modules, courses, and classes.
  • Acts as an educational liaison to the leadership of UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital and UnityPoint Health Marshalltown addressing the various educational needs of their departments.
  • Maintains effective communication related to educational updates, offerings and changes with team members and customers served through a variety of methods.
  • Acts as a liaison and positively promotes healthcare careers and related training/development within our community.
  • Ensures all student participants involved in educational experiences with the organization meet all standards and comply with organizational policies.
  • Coordinates the rental activities for participants housed at 1650 Heath Street, including selection of tenants, collecting monthly rent, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, healthcare, business or related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Two years of experience in healthcare, education, or related field. Learning management system experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Appropriate credentials to teach assigned Basic Life Support (BLS) classes or ability to obtain within six weeks of hire.
  • Ability to initiate welcoming connections & maintain positive relationships.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot software issues.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.
  • Demonstrates effective strategies to enhance learning, providing quality learning opportunities to a diverse work force.
  • Demonstrates staff development and adult learning competence in working as a consultant, trainer, facilitator and resource in regard to coordination and production of educational offerings preferred.
  • Use of computer, printer/copier; fax, multi-line telephone, projector, and speaker phone.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Functions effectively with interruptions & manages deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail accuracy; strong organization & problem-solving skills.

Salary : $40,200 - $50,800
