Responsibilities:
Responsible for all new referrals for the Infusion Services. Knows and understands insurance contracts, obtaining prior authorizations and benefits. Re-verifies eligibility and benefits as changes occur. Enters all information into the EMR.
Daily Work Assignments:
- Assess patient/customer needs and match them with UnityPoint at Home services, coordinating with the home care team as needed.
- Process incoming work orders, secure demographic, financial, and qualifying data, and verify benefits.
- Specialize in infusion services while maintaining basic knowledge of all service lines.
- Direct inquiries and referrals to the appropriate service line and coordinate incoming calls.
- Initiate and coordinate prior authorization requests, maintain knowledge of third-party payer guidelines, and follow up as necessary.
- Collect insurance information, run test claims, and obtain medical records for prior authorizations.
- Re-verify eligibility and benefits at the start of a new benefit year.
- Handle intake and scheduling of patient referrals and medications via calls.
- Provide customer service to patients and physicians, coordinating medication delivery.
- Use computer systems to document and retrieve information for timely service provision.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers and referral sources, ensuring high-quality service.
- Stay informed about relevant regulations and perform patient follow-up calls as directed.
- Participate in on-call duties on a rotation basis, including weekends and holidays.
- Refer clinical questions to appropriate staff and perform other duties as requested by managers.
- Meet productivity and performance improvement measures.
- Complete communication tasks promptly and professionally, attend staff meetings, and stay informed about UnityPoint at Home programs and initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: One year of medical experience; preferably in community home health or pharmacy
License(s)/Certification(s):
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
Registered Pharmacy Support
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving skills with previous customer service experience
Basic knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel) and operations
