As a member of the laboratory team, the courier transports specimens, supplies, parcels, and written communication between UPH system divisions throughout the Siouxland area while driving a licensed UPH vehicle. The courier loads, unloads, and transports materials between the laboratory and the system clients.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Transports specimens, supplies, parcels, and written communication between laboratory and outreach clients while driving a licensed UPH vehicle. Loads and unloads vehicle while maintaining the integrity of specimens for shipment, room temperature, refrigerated, or frozen. Maintains pickup and delivery records for the pick-ups, deliveries, and responds to STAT and unusual delivery and/or pick-up requests in a timely manner.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the UPH vehicle; interior and exterior
- Coordinates the scheduled maintenance such as an oil changes, tire rotations etc.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria

- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

| Obtain OSHA Bio-Hazard Certification within 30 days from date of hire and maintain annually.
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
