Overview

The Manager of Clinical Informatics will facilitate the UPHDM training and optimization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and other clinical enterprise systems in support of strategic objectives. This position acts as a UPHDM representative to corporate IT in leading local EHR initiatives including but not limited to selection of hardware, software, staff development, and management support of information. This position assists in the evaluation and maintenance of other clinical and nonclinical systems as assigned (i.e. Responder 5, SharePoint).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates local EMR implementation activities including clinical content development, end user acceptance testing, and business process re-engineering, training and implementation support.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between UPH IT, physicians and clinical staff to insure EMR implementations are optimized based on clinical workflow.
  • Facilitates effective communication with leadership and end users to ensure smooth implementation of new functional elements, applications, and major releases.
  • Understands and addresses the impact of the EMR on other clinical applications and operations
  • Communicates regularly with leadership on implementation strategies, tactics and status of new or ongoing issues
  • Coordinates the training needs of new medical providers and staff
  • Acts as a resource to rural affiliate hospitals
  • Coordinates the involvement of clinical informatics staff on local or UPH committees and performance improvement initiatives as needed or requested
  • Performs employee rounding
  • Provides personal performance development feedback
  • Analyzes expenditures
  • Provides direction and acts as a resource to the Clinical Informatics staff
  • Participates in strategic planning related to clinical information systems as appropriate

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Or Specialized

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field

  • Master’s degree
  • Registered nurse or licensure in a healthcare profession

Experience:

  • 5 years in a health care or health care related work setting with clinical expertise
  • 2 years in information management and computerized clinical systems

License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Read, write and speak fluent English and ability to communicate with various disciplines/roles
  • Ability to develop presentations or written material for a wide range of audiences.

Other:

  • Work may require travel to other UPH facilities. May drive a UPH vehicle, rental or won vehicle.
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
