The Child Protection Center is a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides medical examinations, forensic interviews, and advocacy services to suspected victims of child abuse. It is the role of the CPC Medical Provider to conduct medical examinations for suspected victims of child abuse. The Medical Provider has overall responsibility for ensuring medical services provided through the CPC are patient focused, clinically appropriate, operationally efficient and achieve effective patient outcomes.
The Center represents a community-wide effort to provide:
- Centralized access and referral to a system of community services for abused children and their families.
- Coordination of high quality, reliable, consistent interviews and medical exams by specially trained interviewers and physicians
- Efforts toward identification, treatment, and prevention of child abuse
Position overview:
- PRN position
- Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination
Responsibilities
- PRN position; Hours vary
- Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday 8am-4:30pm
- Call required – 1:4 shared; Calls from ERs, supporting 30 counties in Iowa
- Requires ER - Exam
- Conducts high quality medical evaluations for alleged victims of child abuse.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of the patient’s care.
- Fosters positive relationships with CPC patients and family members, CPC team members, other hospital employees and MDT partners.
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Board Certified
- Prefer five (5) years previous child abuse and pediatric experience.
- Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
- Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
- Eligible to work in the United States
