This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date records throughout the region in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Prepares and maintains patient information in the electronic medical record. This position is primarily remote. Options to work at a designated UnityPoint workspace will be considered upon request as space is available.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the electronic health record is maintained according to policy and workflows through electronic scanning of documents.
- Provides appropriate and timely documentation in the patient’s EMR using standardized workflows and processes.
- Obtains any and all pertinent clinic health information from provider, clinical staff and/or EMR to process authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
- Work independently and responsible for timely completion of assigned functions
- Monitor environmental conditions in order to secure protected health information.
- Know process to release orders using UPC compliance guidelines.
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of medical documents
- Sort all faxed documents according to document type.
- Scan faxed documents to appropriate location in patient chart
- Route faxed documents to appropriate clinic folder or provider
- Have an extensive knowledge of electronic health record workflows including but not limited to importing and routing documents.
- Coordination with clinic team members to provide timely and accurate records for providers to review and sign
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous medical office experience
- Previous experience with an electronic health record or medical office software
- Previous experience with medical records
- Clinic document experience preferred (ROI, Lab results, documents from outside healthcare entities, etc.)
