Responsibilities
The registered nurse at the Allen Child Protection Center will assist the medical provider in the physical assessment of suspected child abuse and neglect. The Registered Nurse must be able to recognize the developmental stage of the child and assist with the plan of care accordingly. Working with in the multidisciplinary team at the Allen Child Protection Center is essential for the best outcome and safety of the child. The duties of a Child Protection Center Registered Nurse may also include education, medical consultation and administrative meetings.Demonstrates Allen CARE values in all actions and interactions. Provide direct patient care for forensic medical exams for victims of sexual assault, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and dependent adult abuse. Obtain complete medical histories and assist with medical screening exams. Maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups and evaluations for case review and other professionals who may need to access information. Collaborate with appropriate internal and external partners to coordinate patient care. Flexibility to be on-call.
Qualifications
BSN Required. Licensed in the State of Iowa as a Registered Nurse.
Minimum of two years experience as a registered nurse. SANE - P and SANE - A training preferred. Past experience working with children who have been victims of child abuse in the emergency room or pediatrics preferred.
