The medical social workers job is to perform assessments with patients to assess for any physical, mental, or emotional needs. They assess the family support system and link the patient with services to help with care if needed. The social worker can also provide assistance with financial concerns such as not being able to afford medications or pay household bills. Some social workers provide counseling to patients who are suffering from depression or who are having difficulty coping. A social worker links and makes referrals to agencies to assist the patient with all of these services.

Responsibilities
- Function as a member of the medical hospital treatments team, professionally responsible for intervention in discharge planning
- Community Resources liaison and referral source
- Counseling, emotional support, attempt to elevate anxieties to patients and families
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work required
- 3 years of medical social work or related experience preferred
- Area of Interest: Behavioral Health Services;
- FTE/Hours per pay period: 1.0;

- Shift: 80 hours. one holiday per year, some weekend coverage;
