Responsibilities
About the OR:
- The three, Quad City campuses feature 16 OR suites, 2 open heart rooms, and 2 urology rooms, all equipped to handle a wide range of surgical procedures in specialties such as cardiothoracic, vascular, robotics, orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, urology, podiatry, and cataracts.
- During orientation, UnityPoint Health offers a structured orientation which provides guidelines and education to ensure success in surgical services.
- Additionally, UnityPoint Health offers development and professional growth opportunities through continued education.
Duties:
- Set up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary equipment for each procedure, ensuring all items are sterile and ready for use.
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols throughout the operation.
- Help with cleaning and restocking the operating room after procedures, including properly disposing of used materials and ensuring all instruments are ready for sterilization.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology. If not a graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology then equitable experience with documentation of similar training.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- CPR certification required.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of surgical asepsis, infection control, surgical terminology, and laser safety.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately.
