What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist - OR, 0.8FTE, Day/PM Shift position at UnityPoint Health?
The Surgical Technologist performs as a member of surgical team providing technical patient care and hands-on expertise in the handling of surgical instruments and equipment during routine and emergency cases. Assembles and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies for all specialties using surgeon preference cards as a reference. Sets up and maintains sterile field while anticipating and responding to the surgeon's intra-operative needs. Functions as 2nd assistant during surgical procedure. Understands and maintains current knowledge and practice of hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications:- Graduate of an approved one year surgical technologist program
- Knowledgeable in aseptic technique, scrub skills, anatomy, and surgical procedures
- Knowledgeable and purpose of correct medications and solutions used on the surgical field
Preferred
- 6 months of previous surgical tech experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist
