Job Summary
The Food Program & Volunteer Coordinator combines elements of program coordination and volunteer management within UCHC’s food assistance initiatives. This position will coordinate nutrition related programs along with volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Food Program Management & Engagement
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the food assistance programs, ensuring smooth implementation along with adherence to organizational goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with food suppliers, honors, and community partners to procure necessary food items, maintain inventory levels, and ensure the quality and safety of distributed food.
- Development and implement strategies to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of food distribution processes, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
- Monitor program outcomes and performance metrics, and regularly assess and adjust program strategies.
- Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and forums to promote our food programs, recruit volunteers, and build partnerships with local organizations.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop promotional materials, social media campaigns.
- Develop outreach to raise awareness of our food assistance initiatives and volunteer opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with program participants, volunteers, donors, and community members.
- Ensure effective communication, feedback mechanisms, and responsiveness to inquiries and feedback.
- Perform other tasks as required by management.
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers to support various aspects of our food programs, including food packing, distribution, and client assistance.
- Develop and maintain volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for program activities while accommodating volunteer availability and preferences.
- Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment by providing ongoing support, recognition, and opportunities for skill development and engagement.
- Implement volunteer retention strategies, such as recognition programs, feedback mechanisms, and volunteer appreciation events, to cultivate long-term volunteer relationships and commitment.
Care Coordinator
- Coordinating and monitoring ongoing referrals to community resources and services.
- Documenting all meetings and services with key stakeholders such as external resources and patient linkage.
- Document and implement care plans.
- Attending training, weekly supervision, and meetings as scheduled.
- Service as the primary point of contact for patients, addressing inquiries while providing information regarding services and procedures.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field required.
- One year of social work-related experience in a medical or mental health setting.
- A minimum of one year in a community clinic or other medical office environment.
- Familiar with working with managed care plans and/or Medi-Cal.
- Experience working with an electronic health care system, preferably eCW.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Demonstrated Attributes
- Previous experience coordinating programs in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment, management, and engagement, including the ability to inspire and motivate diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and familiarity with volunteer management software and/or databases.
