What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Fitter/Builder position at Universal Fabricating Inc.?
Key Responsibilities
· Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to determine assembly operations.
· Install major components such as gears, motors etc.
· Inspect parts, subassemblies, and finished product to ensure quality.
· Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
· Assemble, fit, and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finish products using hand and power tools.
· Fit and assemble prefabricated metal parts to build equipment .
· Move and align subassemblies and components using lifting devices, such as overhead cranes.
· Fasten parts together using bolting and riveting equipment or other fastening and joining techniques.
· Ability to alter, fit and adjust assemblies to meet close tolerances.
· Visually check parts for imperfections or faulty material parts - report findings to quality department.
· Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Guidelines and Company Policies and Procedures.
· Keep workspace clean, neat, productive, and safe. Perform daily housekeeping.
· Use all required PPE and notify management immediately when new PPE is required.
· Others as required.
Qualifications
· Mechanically Inclined.
· Able to work in a team.
· Ability to lead a small team of assemblers would be an asset.
· Attention to detail.
· Problem solving skills.
· Excellent blueprint reading skills.
· Able to perform basic mathematical equations.
· Forklift and Overhead Crane certified.
· Knowledge of a variety of hand tools.
· Able to lift 50 lbs.
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
· Attentiveness to Health & Safety
