About the Unit:
Join our 32-bed multidisciplinary ICU where critical thinking and clinical expertise are essential. Nurses on this unit care for adult and geriatric patients facing complex, high-acuity conditions. We are looking for strong ICU RNs who bring depth in critical care—and are flexible and capable of supporting patients across various specialties.
Unit Highlights:
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2 (May vary to 1:1 or 1:3 depending on acuity)
- Floating: May float to Stepdown and Med-Surg (up to 4-5 patients when floated)
- Specialties Seen: Respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac arrest, DKA, strokes, vascular surgeries, TAVRs, thoracotomies, and more
- Bedside Procedures: Bronchoscopies, intubations, central line placements, chest tube insertions, Swan-Ganz line placement, and more
Common Equipment:
- Alaris pumps, Prisma Flex, Arctic Sun
- IABP, Impella, Phillips Monitors
- Belmont rapid infuser, ceiling lifts, bladder scanners
- Bard & CADD pumps, SCDs
Medications Administered:
- Vasopressors (Levophed, Epinephrine, Vasopressin)
- Sedatives, paralytics, cardiac medications
- Vasoactive drip titration is required
Required Skills:
Line Management:
- Required: IV Insertion, PICC/Central Line Management, Dialysis Fistula Care, A-Line Management, CVP
- Preferred: PA Line Management, IABP
Cardiac:
- Required: Sheath Removal, Cardioversion/Defibrillation
- Preferred: 12-Lead EKG, Epicardial Pacer Management
Airway:
- Required: Ventilator Management, CPAP/BiPAP, Procedural Sedation, Trach Care, High-Frequency Vents, Nitric Oxide
Other Critical Skills:
- Required: Feeding Tubes, Wound Vac
- Preferred: EVD Management, ICP Monitoring, Impella, CRRT, PCA Pumps
- Behavioral Health experience preferred (especially chemical dependency)
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
- Strong multidisciplinary critical care background
- Previous travel experience required
- Ability to float to other units as needed
