Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technician to join our team in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Surgical Technician will play a crucial role in assisting surgical teams during procedures, ensuring that the operating room is prepared and that all necessary instruments and supplies are available. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, particularly in pediatrics, as well as the ability to analyze data and work effectively in a Level II Trauma Center.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all surgical instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout the surgical process.
- Collect and analyze data related to patient care and surgical outcomes.
- Monitor patient safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures, adhering to Basic Life Support protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in surgical technology.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, particularly related to pediatrics.
- Proficient in data collection techniques relevant to surgical procedures.
- Ability to analyze information effectively to support surgical teams.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health records system is preferred.
- Experience working in an acute care setting, especially within a Level II Trauma Center.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
