Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare the operating room with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required for cardiovascular surgeries.
- Ensure all surgical instruments and devices are properly sterilized and in working order.
- Arrange drapes, gowns, and gloves in a sterile field before the procedure.
- Assist in positioning and prepping the patient for surgery, ensuring comfort and compliance with sterile techniques.
- Confirm the presence of required monitoring equipment such as heart monitors and defibrillators.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures like bypass surgery, valve replacement, or vascular surgeries.
- Maintain a sterile field and anticipate the surgeon’s needs to minimize delays during the procedure.
- Handle specialized equipment, such as heart-lung machines or intra-aortic balloon pumps, as needed.
- Keep an accurate count of instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after the procedure.
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare instruments for sterilization post-surgery.
- Monitor the surgical field for contamination and maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses, to ensure seamless coordination.
- Operate and troubleshoot cardiovascular-specific equipment, such as endoscopic instruments, cardiac monitors, and vascular clamps.
- Assist with the use of advanced technology, including robotic surgical systems or laser equipment, if applicable.
- Respond promptly during surgical emergencies, such as cardiac arrest or complications, by providing necessary instruments or assisting the surgical team.
- Assist in setting up emergency equipment like defibrillators or crash carts.
- Record details of the surgical procedure, including instrument counts, specimens collected, and any unusual occurrences.
- Ensure documentation complies with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist in transferring the patient to the recovery room or ICU, ensuring all monitoring equipment is connected and functioning.
- Clean and restock the operating room to prepare for the next procedure.
- Stay updated on the latest cardiovascular surgical techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to improve skills and maintain certifications.
Qualifications:
- Current Surgical Tech Cardio OR certification in Texas (don’t leave home without it!).
- Hospital experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train enthusiastic Surgical Tech who love to learn.
- Excellent communication skills—extra points if you can throw in a great dad joke!
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (but don’t worry, no capes required).

Pay: $2400.00 - $21000.00 Weekly (plus, we promise it’ll come with good vibes!)
Expected hours: 40 per week (with coffee breaks, snack breaks, and, well, more breaks!)
