Overview
The Telemetry Nurse plays a critical role in monitoring patients' vital signs and providing essential care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Duties
- Monitor patients' heart rates, blood pressure, and other vital signs using telemetry equipment.
- Assess patients' conditions and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with daily living activities and emotional support.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about health management, including understanding telemetry monitoring.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in sterile processing procedures as needed within the operating room (OR) environment.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and ICD-9 coding for accurate patient assessments.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license (RN) in good standing; certification in telemetry nursing is preferred.
- Previous experience in telemetry or critical care nursing is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of anatomy, aseptic techniques, and sterile processing practices is essential.
- Ability to lift patients safely and provide physical support when necessary.
- Familiarity with travel nursing is a plus for positions requiring flexibility in location.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret cardiac rhythms and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Proficiency in suture techniques may be beneficial for certain clinical scenarios.
