Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE-approved and certified facility.

Position Scope:
The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all
aspects of nursing care on assigned unit for residents ages 7-17. Adheres to Nursing
Standards and Policies, Facility Policies and Procedures and the Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Monitors, reports, and documents the residents' behavior and physiological status.
- Administers medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility an nursing services, policies, and procedures.
- Guides the response to residents who are behaviorally out of control or who may be experiencing a medical or behavioral crisis in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Medical Staff with delineated privileges and Physician.
- Responsible for demonstrating clinical competence in the delivery of direct patient care and the implementation of the milieu management program.
- Reports accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents both medically and psychiatrically.
- Responsible for the management of the Infection Control Program under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing.
Qualifications
An individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily:
- Demonstrate knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations.

- Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Education/Experience:
Graduation from an approved School of Practical Nursing. Prefer experience with children and adolescents in psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program.
Licensure/Certification:
Licensed by Commonwealth of Virginia as a Licensed Practical Nurse, CPR certification and Handle with Care.
