Your Role as a Substitute Teacher
- Engage & Educate - Deliver lessons according to the classroom teacher's plans.
- Classroom Management - Implement effective behavioral systems and trauma-informed care strategies.
- Student Support - Provide accommodations for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaboration - Work closely with paraprofessionals and school staff to create a structured, safe learning environment.
- Behavioral Support - Potential cross-training as a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to provide additional student support.
- Crisis Management - Respond to situations and assist students in maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must complete paraprofessional training during new hire orientation.
- Must pass a competency test assessing foundational math, reading, and writing skills administered by the school principal.
- Upon hire, must successfully complete an online course (6 hour training) on Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Prior experience working with students with or without disabilities or in an educational setting is preferred but not required.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, grade levels, subjects, and student needs.
- Comfortability learning the basic use of instructional technology.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.
- Certificates, licenses and registrations required: current driver's licensure with a good driving record, CPR certification, first aid certificate, and crisis management certification.
