What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTAKE COUNSELOR PRN morning and evening shifts position at Universal Hospital Services?
Responsibilities Responsible for being able to perform all aspects of the hospital’s assessment and referral process, including efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, knowledge of and communication with referral sources; providing hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals; making outside referrals, when appropriate; assessing and triaging an individual’s mental health and / or chemical dependency status; making patient safety and level of care recommendations to the physician(s); identifying insurance benefits, pre-certification of patient care; completing all admission requirements; communicating patient safety concerns and pertinent patient information to unit nursing staff and documenting all necessary information.Qualifications Education : Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related fields, or Nursing Degree required.Experience : Minimum of two (2) years experience in the mental health field preferred.License / Certification : Required licenses / certifications as per state regulations.Skills : Excellent communication skills. Ability to relate to those with psychiatric and chemical dependency issues and in crisis.Physical Requirements : Medium demand, mentally. Requires extensive time sitting, writing, and talking on the telephone.
