ResponsibilitiesREPORTS TO : Chief Financial OfficerSUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSEThe Director of Engineering is responsible for managing and organizing the operations of the facility including maintenance, grounds keeping, Environmental Services, and the Dietary department, while maintaining compliance with all applicable codes, standards of government and regulatory agencies. This position also serves as the facility’s Safety Officer and serves on the Safety / Risk Management Committee.All employees are expected to be pleasant, respectful, and courteous in all interactions with patients, families, staff, and visitors of the Hospital, as well as being a positive representative of INBH at all times.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA minimum of four (4) years related experience with at least one year of management experience.Must have knowledge and experience with reading blueprints and understand Life Safety Code, NFPA standards, and OSHA Regulations.Must have a valid driver’s license and passable driving record.Must have complete knowledge of the physical plant within four (4) weeks of hire and be able to speak fluently in front of audiences; must be able to communicate in a clear, concise manner.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSDegree in facility management, equivalent in trade school degree, or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience.Healthcare Facility Management certification (CHFM)SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESAll functions are essential functions unless otherwise noted. The job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed below.Perform personnel management duties including screening and selection of assessment and referral staff, providing department orientation and training, schedule management, completing performance evaluations, addressing performance issues, and providing feedback to Human Resources.Maintain and upkeep the building grounds and all its equipment (fixed and mobile).Serve as the Chairman of the Environment of Care Committee and assume the roles as the facility safety director while developing, implementing, and directing the facility’s safety management programs.Ensure the facility meets necessary standards set forth by the Joint Commission, federal, state and local laws concerning the operation of the facility.Maintain documentation of required tests under the Joint Commission for electrical leakage, conductivity, emergency generator power testing, fire alarm testing and all other testing.Maintain a reference of all library codes, standards and resource materials.Coordinate with outside contractors any necessary repairs beyond facility operations capability or time scope, within reasonable cost.Organize work to avoid crisis management prior to Joint Commission and state surveys.May be responsible to perform tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, to include HVAC, and tests and inspections of the physical plant.Responsible for keeping tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location.Available to rotate after-hours maintenance call.PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS : Ability to move continuously is required in the completion of job requirements.Ability to operate machinery and equipment in a safe manner.Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, push, pull, and twist.Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds may be required without assistance.Ability to work under any weather conditions, inside or out, without regard for temperatures any time of the day or night.Visual acuity is needed for accurate reading of documents.Ability to hear sound with or without correction.Good hand and finger dexterity for the use of tools and equipment.Ability to read and write.Ability to drive a motor vehicle.Ability to exert up to 80 pounds of force to move objects.Ability to respond to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.#J-18808-Ljbffr
