General Description:
The Director of Claims is responsible for leading claims operations while driving business development and client acquisition for the Field Adjusting Company. This role ensures efficient claims processing, regulatory compliance, and operational scalability while securing new business opportunities across various industries, including insurance carriers, self-insured entities, TPAs, and government agencies. The Director will oversee claims’ performance, vendor partnerships, and profitability while fostering client relationships to expand market presence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Business development & client acquisition:
Develop and execute a client acquisition strategy to expand the company’s portfolio by securing profitable contracts with new insurance carriers, MGAs, mortgage lenders, TPAs, self-insured entities and other potential clients.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities by leveraging industry networks, attending conferences, and establishing relationships with potential clients.
Negotiate contracts and service agreements with prospective clients, ensuring competitive fee structures while maintaining profitability.
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop promotional materials, case studies, and proposals tailored to prospective clients.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to refine business development strategies and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring retention through high-quality service delivery and proactive communication.
Claims oversight & operational leadership:
Oversee the entire claims process, ensuring timely, accurate, and customer-focused resolution of claims.
Develop and implement best practices to improve claims handling efficiency and reduce loss adjustment expenses.
Ensure the company’s claims operations remain compliant with state and federal regulations.
Leverage technology and process automation to optimize claims management workflows.
Establish and implement effective KPIs to track and improve claims performance, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Provide leadership to claims managers and field adjusters, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Vendor & adjuster management:
Build and maintain a high-performing independent adjuster network, ensuring the company has sufficient resources for CAT and non-CAT claims.
Foster strategic partnerships with third-party vendors to enhance claims-handling capabilities.
Oversee the deployment of adjusters based on client needs and catastrophe response requirements.
Financial & profitability management:
Develop and manage the claims budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and maximum profitability.
Analyze financial performance, including revenue growth, claims costs, and loss adjustment expenses, to optimize pricing and service offerings.
Identify areas to improve margins through cost control, process improvements, and technology integration.
Performs other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field.
10 years of experience in claims management, preferably in field adjusting and property & casualty insurance.
Proven experience in business development and client acquisition, with a track record of securing contracts with insurance carriers or related businesses.
Strong knowledge of claims processes, industry regulations, and best practices in independent adjusting.
Ability to negotiate service agreements, pricing models, and partnership contracts effectively.
Excellent relationship-building, sales, and networking skills, with the ability to engage with C-level executives and decision-makers.
Experience with CAT event claims handling and large-scale deployment of adjusters is a plus.
Proficiency in claims management software and data analytics to track performance and support decision-making.
Strong leadership skills, with a passion for mentoring teams and fostering a high-performance culture.
