Universal Logistics is currently seeking a Materials Clerk for our Ripon, WI location. The ideal candidates should be self-motivated with strong detail orientation, possess excellent problem solving / verbal communication skills, and have computer knowledge.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to :
- Inventory Counting : Perform regular cycle counts of inventory items to verify quantities and locations, typically without disrupting warehouse operations.
- Data Recording and Reporting : Accurately record counts and discrepancies using inventory management systems, spreadsheets, or specialized software. They generate reports on stock levels, discrepancies, and actions taken to resolve issues.
- Discrepancy Resolution : Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, which might involve checking records, verifying product location, or addressing potential causes of the variance.
- Collaborate with Other Teams : Work closely with warehouse staff, inventory control managers, and other departments to ensure stock levels are accurate and order fulfillment runs smoothly.
- Maintaining Accuracy : Ensure that all inventory data is recorded accurately and that inventory procedures are consistently followed to prevent errors in stock levels.
- Continuous Improvement : Help identify inefficiencies or inconsistencies in inventory control processes and recommend improvements to streamline operations.
- Compliance with Standards : Follow safety guidelines and ensure the warehouse environment is safe, organized, and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Inventory Audits : Assist with periodic full-scale physical inventories and participate in stock reconciliations when required.
- Use of Technology : Operate barcode scanners, RFID readers, or other inventory tracking tools to count products and record data accurately.
- Familiarity with Excel and Word : Since much of the tracking and reporting is done through spreadsheets, a cycle counter must be proficient with Excel. This includes using functions like VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and basic formulas to record and analyze inventory data efficiently. Excel is essential for compiling cycle count results, tracking discrepancies, and generating reports that are easy to understand for both the cycle counter and the management team
- In addition to the core duties : A Materials Clerk may be expected to carry out tasks at the direction of the Facilities Manager or Materials Manager.
