How You’ll CREATE
- Work closely with the Global Insight Directors in running strategic analysis that informs A&R, commercial and digital strategies for UMG.
- Lead bespoke projects from start to finish - from scoping the project, coding to extract and wrangle data, analyzing the data, to creating compelling narratives and strategic takeaways for the business.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align data insights with business objectives.
- Analyze trends across platforms (streaming, social media, and physical sales) to uncover actionable insights and support label strategies.
- Manipulate and interpret unstructured data to develop meaningful narratives, that inspire strategic decision-making.
- Create visualizations and storytelling presentations that clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Address challenges of working with incomplete or fragmented data by finding creative ways to fill gaps
- Explore new datasets, develop new frameworks, and optimize the data workflow (automation where applicable) to keep UMG at the forefront of data-driven innovation
- Work closely with data engineers and data scientists to improve data quality.
- At least 3 years of work experience in an analytics-focused role
- A passion for music and a basic understanding of how the industry operates, including streaming platforms, audience trends, and revenue models.
- Understanding of foundational analytics concepts like trend analysis, forecasting, segmentation, and performance benchmarking.
- Strong technical skills:
- Strong proficiency in SQL; query execution, optimization and performance tuning, ideally gained in a large data warehouse environment. Experience with Google BigQuery a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (data manipulation, advanced, formulas, pivot tables)
- Experience creating and maintaining automated dashboards with BI tools such as Tableau, Domo, or Looker
- Experience creating client deliverables with Keynote or Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience working with large datasets from diverse sources (e.g., streaming, sales, and social media).
- Experience with scripting languages like R/Python preferred, but not required. (Experience with data wrangling, clustering analysis, data visualization and script automation)
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Be able to prioritize, work under tight deadlines and have a strong sense of initiative.
- Compelling Storyteller. Strong communication and writing skills to convey complex ideas to stakeholders of all technical levels.
- Strategic thinker. Can translate numerical findings into actionable recommendations.
