JOB SUMMARY:
Provides skilled, discipline specific technical skills needed for the successful operation and maintenance of audio elements for assigned Entertainment venues, projects, or events, to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience. Can often working independently and/or reporting to a lead or above.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Function as the audio operator for an assigned venue, project, and/or event. To include operation of digital audio console and equipment for a live show or event from either a Front-of-House or monitor position that may include a live band or performance with wireless microphones and in-ear monitors.
- Function as the audio specific crew member in the appropriate installation/setup, storage, strike, and maintenance of audio equipment. Elevates any technical problems or concerns to Lead or management as they occur.
- Facilitates and troubleshoots with accountability for the completion of team objectives from a Lead or management with little supervision after direction is given.
- Maintains venue or event specific inventory of all audio equipment.
- Responsible for effectively communicating pertinent information, both written and verbal, which pertains to the technical operation of the assigned entertainment venue/event, to other disciplines, entertainment tech management, and team members of the venue/event.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Technical school, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline
Preferred:
- 5 or more years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
- Prior experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Required:
- Q-Sys Level 1, Dante Level 1
Preferred:
- Q-Sys Level 2, Control Training 201, Control & UCI Fundamentals
- Dante Level 2 or 3
- SMAART Technologies Software Certification
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
- As directed, may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members.
- Advanced Knowledge in low voltage wiring, standard audio connectors, console signal flow/operation, system signal flow/set-up, and knowledge of mic placement techniques.
- Advanced Knowledge in digital audio consoles (Yamaha, Digico, Avid), proper usage/set-up of professional wireless microphones (Shure, Sennheiser, etc.).
- Knowledge of component troubleshooting techniques, understanding of Audio over IP (AoIP) protocols.
