What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tech II, Technical Entertainment Maintenance position at Universal Parks & Resorts?

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the maintenance and repair of Entertainment Control, Communications, Audio, Lighting, Video and Effects Systems and Components

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Technical Entertainment Systems. These Systems include Audio, Video, Electrical, Lighting, Laser and Networked systems. Inspection includes testing, cleaning, replacing and/or calibration of Show Systems.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective actions that will improve operation reliability and Safety. Involves researching defective components and instructional information to complete the repair process when required. This entails logical extensive troubleshooting, referencing of technical drawings/manuals and specifications. And tracking history of past failures and solutions.
  • Provide data entry into a tracking system, logging of P.M. inspections, corrective actions and/or repairs made while listing parts required implementing the repairs. Research and specify parts to replace. Also complete hard copy Preventative Maintenance records and physical logbook entries.
  • Utilize company resources to stay current on current equipment use in entertainment systems to maintain a high show quality.
  • Perform projects and modifications to equipment and systems as directed by Universal Orlando Entertainment.
  • Support special events and Production shoots as directed by Entertainment Management.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SCOPE: Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Technical Entertainment Systems. Inspections include testing, cleaning, replacement, verification and/or calibration of applicable components and quality control.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required;
  • Technical school is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Audio/Video technician should have at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in the entertainment audio/video field
  • Technician with formal electronics training and/or at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in design, installation or maintenance of A/V & Entertainment systems.
  • Must possess knowledge of audio and video theory as well as practical training and experience
  • Should have advanced knowledge in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of A/V & Entertainment systems.
