UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) for a hybrid position in New York City. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise supporting DB2 v10 or higher on an IBM z/OS platform, with additional experience in enterprise financial and payroll systems. Candidates with active Linkedin accounts are preferred.

The DB2 DBA will work closely with application development teams to install and migrate releases, execute data fixes, perform tuning, and define and execute recovery functions for critical citywide payroll and pension payroll systems. The position also involves scripting, troubleshooting legacy mainframe technologies, and supporting disaster recovery planning and execution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Citys payroll and pension payroll applications (PMS and PPMS)
- Perform installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases on z/OS
- Work with application teams to install and migrate releases
- Define and execute database recovery functions
- Execute data fixes and standard tuning procedures (runstats, reorgs)
- Write and validate procedures for all database processes
- Identify potential issues and recommend DB2 program updates
- Deliver clear technical instructions for Tech Support and production migrations
- Support tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a technical/business discipline
- Expertise with DB2 v10 or higher on IBM z/OS
- Experience with IBM IMS V12 or higher
- Experience with CICS Transaction Server
- Ability to perform all DBA duties including backups, recovery, reorgs, and troubleshooting
- Ability to troubleshoot DB2 embedded in COBOL and assembler code
- Experience authoring REXX scripts
- Familiarity with Oracle Transparent Gateway design
- Experience with IBM Tivoli LDAP Server on AIX
- Experience with BMC BPPM Monitoring implementation
- Proficient in building and maintaining data propagation solutions using IBM InfoSphere Replication Server
- Ability to install/manage DB2 on AIX platforms
- Strong experience supporting enterprise-wide financial and payroll applications
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration
