Job Description: The Shop Forman will work hands on to oversee and assist with the day-to-day supervising, coordinating employees, shop flow, customer updates, assigning work, ensuring customer expectations are exceeded, assisting with diagnostics, shop performance, service quality, and estimating.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage service and repair personnel by assigning and directing activities, following up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel.
- Plan and schedule repairs, being proactive to job reviewing the work load for the day, making an efficient execution plan.
- Assist technicians with diagnostic and mechanical help as needed.
- Perform ongoing hands-on-training of service and repair personnel.
- Oversee active jobs to ensure they are within the estimated limits of the customer's expectations.
- Update customers on daily job progress.
- Act as a backup for the Maintenance Manager/Service Writer with answering the phone, responding to emails and COD customer billing when needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A or B driver's license is recommended.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of Class 6, 7, 8, trucks and medium duty trucks.
- Strong computer skills and ability to adapt to new software programs.
- Excellent communication skills, management priorities and organizational skills.
