Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule shipments to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing efficiency.
- Communicate with drivers to provide clear instructions, route details, and necessary updates throughout their shifts.
- Monitor vehicle locations in real-time using GPS and tracking systems to ensure timely arrivals and adherence to schedules.
- Resolve logistical challenges as they arise, including delays, route adjustments, and unforeseen issues that affect delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of driver logs, mileage, trip data, and other essential information for compliance and operational tracking.
- Liaise with customers to confirm delivery requirements, handle inquiries, and provide real-time delivery updates to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Optimize delivery routes to improve operational efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize costs.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and transportation regulations, including those related to DOT.
- Support drivers by addressing any operational or technical challenges they encounter during their routes, ensuring smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including shipment details and delivery confirmations.
- Collaborate with the operations team to streamline logistics processes, enhance communication, and improve overall service delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation management.
- Strong active listening and excellent communication skills to interact effectively with drivers, customers, and team members.
- Exceptional clerical and organizational skills to efficiently track schedules, routes, and personnel.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using computer systems for scheduling, dispatching, and data management.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and DOT compliance standards.
- Customer-service oriented, with a proactive approach to resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to rapidly changing circumstances.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
