Job Summary
In this role, you have the opportunity to join our team at our headquarters in Roseland, NJ. We’re looking for a VP of Operations to lead our Operations team. This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
Role Responsibilities
- Own the operation of our 80,000 square foot facility, which is responsible for the production and fulfillment of all Universal Yums products.
- Manage a direct team of 4; 1 Sr. Operations Manager, 1 Production Supervisor, 1 Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, and 1 Production Coordinator.
- Oversee a team of 60 warehouse associates, including both direct employees, seasonal employees, and temporary employees.
- Own a $10M budget across shipping, fulfillment, equipment, and supplies. Control costs, optimize expenditures, and drive efficiency initiatives to meet financial targets.
- Own the accurate and timely fulfillment of all direct to consumer orders, and shipments to wholesale customers.
- Own the accurate & efficient production of all boxes, bags, and other assembled products.
- Own the precise management of inventory, with an emphasis on expiration date management.
- Own the proactive planning of labor, incoming & outgoing shipments, facility storage, and other activities as needed to smoothly navigate peak periods and minimize disruptions to the operation.
- Become an expert in our ERP, and use your knowledge to continuously improve our systems through streamlined processes, increased automation, and well-structured data.
- Become an expert in our physical operation, walking the floor daily, and continuously identifying and implementing improvements.
- Lead your organization by setting high standards, developing your people, and being visible & hands-on across all levels of your team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization, particularly with your peers in Procurement, Finance, Engineering, and Customer Experience.
- Collaborate with Compliance to implement food quality & safety standards, in preparation for passing an audit.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, carriers, and service providers to ensure reliable and cost-effective support for operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, and establish a culture of safety across the organization.
Required Experiences & Skills
- 12 years of experience in manufacturing and fulfillment operations
- 7 years of experience in people management
- 3 years of experience in a position overseeing production, assembly, or manufacturing
- Bachelor’s Degree in operations, supply chain, engineering, business, or related field
- Strong experience working with ERPs, and ability to understand & customize ERP logic to meet business requirements
- Strong ability to analyze data and build moderately complex tools in Excel / Google Sheets
- Any Spanish language ability is a plus
