What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Researcher position at University at Buffalo?
We are looking for highly motivated and skilled researchers at various levels (technicians, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting students/scholars) to join the Head and Neck Cancer research team led by Dr. Cui in the Department of Oral Biology at the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY-Buffalo), School of Dental Medicine (SDM). SUNY-Buffalo is a premier R1 research institution, renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative environment. As part of this flagship institution, you’ll have access to cutting-edge resources, distinguished faculty, and a vibrant academic community.
Our research focuses on investigating the role of frequent genetic alterations in head and neck cancer and their implications for immunotherapy. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in a rapidly advancing field, with the potential to significantly impact cancer treatment strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Investigate the relationship between genetic changes and immunotherapy response using syngeneic mouse models.
· Conduct high-throughput genomic CRISPR screening (in vivo and in vitro) to identify novel targets for immune therapy resistance in head and neck cancer.
· Explore cell death mechanisms in CASP8-mutated head and neck cancer.
· Analyze and interpret experimental data to advance understanding in the field.
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including bioinformaticians, immunologists, and oncologists.
· Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present them at conferences.
· Mentor and supervise graduate students and research assistants as needed.
Qualifications:
Technicians: (no age limit)
· Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical science-related field with at least two years of lab experience.
· Expertise in one or more of the following techniques: molecular cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 screening, flow cytometry, or working with in vivo cancer models.
· Strong work ethic and reliable technical skills.
Postdoctoral Fellows:
· Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, or a related field.
· Strong background in molecular biology, cancer genomics, and/or immunotherapy research.
· Preferred skills include molecular cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 screening, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, working with in vivo cancer models, and bioinformatics analysis.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
PhD Students:
· Admission to the PhD program at SDM requires strong scientific thinking and proficiency in English.
· A Master’s degree in a biomedical-related field with research publications is preferred.
