The Lombardo Lab is a newly established laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry that employs a diverse array of technologies to explore the fundamental mechanisms of cell polarity in eukaryotic cells. Under the general supervision of Dr. Lombardo, the Research Technician II
will provide essential laboratory support and actively participate in specific research projects. These projects include media preparation, tissue culture, molecular biology, cell transfection, high-resolution light microscopy, protein purification, and characterization. Additional responsibilities encompass media and solution preparation, as well as the disposal of hazardous and biological waste. You will also assist other lab members with various tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in science or technology or 2 years formal training in subject matter related to this project and 3 years experience related to this project.
- Must be an effective communicator both in understanding tasks and techniques as well as working with other lab personnel. The lab is highly interactive, and this position requires an enthusiastic and devoted individual who wants to gain experience and contribute to a cell biology research effort.
- Working knowledge with basic computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and e-mail. Must be highly organized, familiar with databases and have excellent computer skills.
- Ability to work independently, adhere to deadlines, and multi-task. Ability to carry out experiments to completion with limited guidance.
- Ability to work with chemicals and biohazards and to maintain lab safety protocol and procedures at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or related post-Associate’s coursework.
- Ideal candidates will be recent graduates looking to gain laboratory and research skills for medical or graduate school who can provide a two-year commitment.
Physical Demands
Frequently moves lab equipment weighing up to 20 to 50 pounds. Close concentration/manual dexterity.
Salary Range
$37,000 - $48,000
