Job Description:
Perform and understand general testing and reporting in Chemistry and Hematology and any other areas delegated by the Director of Lab Services
Ensure compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laboratory regulations, standards, and safety protocols, including CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and CAP (College of American Pathologists) guidelines. Quality control and assurance: Implement quality control measures to maintain the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. Conduct regular audits and proficiency testing, and address any issues or discrepancies. Staff management: Train laboratory personnel, including medical technologists, technicians, and assistants. Provide ongoing performance feedback, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Data analysis and reporting: Review and analyze laboratory data, and interpret results. Provide accurate and timely information to support patient care decisions. Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and cost control. Implement new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to enhance laboratory performance. Risk management: Identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards in the laboratory.
Clinical Laboratory Supervisor Required Skills
Strong leadership and management skills to effectively supervise and motivate laboratory staff. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in performing laboratory tests and procedures. In-depth knowledge of laboratory regulations, standards, and safety protocols. Proficient in laboratory information systems and other relevant software applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and ensure quality control. Organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong understanding of laboratory operations and workflow optimization. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) from a recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT). Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory, preferred with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Thorough knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, instrumentation, and quality control procedures. Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, such as CLIA guidelines. Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and infection control protocols. Proficient in using laboratory information systems and other relevant software applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours. Monday-Friday 7am to 6pm
