The University of North Carolina at Charlotte recognizes the differentiation of mission, goals, and objectives inherent in the diversity of disciplines represented by its colleges and departments. Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.
Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities across all areas of BSW/MSW curricula. All faculty members provide service to the University, College, School, community, and profession.
Minimum Experience/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills And Experience
- An LCSW in NC (or eligibility with comity to another state).
- Doctorate in social work or a related field.
- Online teaching experience in social work higher education.
- Candidates must possess a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and have at least three years post-master’s practice experience.
- Candidates must possess higher education teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in instruction of social work courses (at BSW, MSW, or doctoral levels).
- Candidates must demonstrate ability to contribute to the School of Social Work’s mission and vision.
