8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday with some flexibility on start and end times, as well as occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Eligible for two remote work days per week, dependent on Area 49 needs (contingent on University policy)
Primary Purpose of Position
The Technology and Multimedia Production Coordinator manages and oversees the provision of technology lending, training, and support services for members of the UNC Charlotte community. The incumbent provides direct support for students, faculty and staff on a variety of technology and multimedia equipment and services including but not limited to media production and presentation support. The incumbent provides high level consultation and training to clients of technology and media based systems including individual, group and classroom training sessions both face-to-face and remotely. Additional responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the technology service points and documentation of such activities. Duties also include support of hardware, digital and multimedia applications, operating systems, and networks and requires knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support clients’ technical needs. An understanding of innovative products, services, and emerging technology trends in higher education is essential. The position requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who is a team player and can maintain positive interpersonal relationships with a variety of users. Includes supervision of a staff of several temporary wage and student employees.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and two years in the field of technology related to the position’s role. Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications
Advanced: Graduation from high school and four years experience in the administration of a computer system; or a two year technical school degree in computer technology and two years of experience in the administration of a computer system; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties
- Supports Area 49 spaces and services, particularly the Area 49 Desk, EZ Video Studios, and Multimedia Lab
- Troubleshoot and provide ongoing support for Area 49 technologies both independently and with OneIT, the Learning Space Technology team, Security, and vendors
- Conducts individual, group, and/or classroom instruction, training sessions, and workshops on technologies, digital applications, and tools, including Adobe tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Audition), Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and more
- Conducts technology consultations for current students, faculty, and staff
- Trains, supervises, and completes hiring processes for student workers and non-student temporary workers to assist patrons with Area 49 spaces and services
- Responsible for all aspects of Area 49’s digital content creation process, online and social media presence, and the accessibility of digital content created within the Area 49 team, including workshops, training, podcasts, videos, photography, and VR/AR experiences, that can be used across many platforms
- Stays informed on trends and best practices in multimedia technologies and services
- Researches and suggests innovative technology purchases to circulate from Area 49
- Researches multimedia software and technology for instruction/trainings
- Orders, catalogs, and organizes new technology purchases; ingests technology into back end of library catalog (Alma) for discoverability in front end (Primo)
- Conducts yearly inventory/audit of Area 49 technology
- Conducts technology showcases for UNC Charlotte students, faculty, and staff
- Creates and manages a library of digital resources for Area 49 technology
- Develops and maintains training modules and support materials
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience setting up, creating and editing and troubleshooting photo, video, audio, gaming equipment and software.
- Experience facilitating training and workshops on multimedia software.
- Experience with DSLR cameras, video cameras, microphones and other multimedia creation technology.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop.
- Familiarity with Final Cut Pro, iMovie, OBS Studio, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Audition.
- Familiarity with Matterport 3D spatial mapping hardware and software.
- Experience working in a library or a similar public service point.
- Experience providing excellent customer service in a library atmosphere.
- Experience creating and editing photo, video, and audio content.
- General computer skills and the ability to troubleshoot computer, copier, scanner, and printer issues.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
