Position Summary:
The Pathology Accessioner is responsible for providing excellent customer service to UCH clients, pathologists, associates and personnel ensuring that all interactions are promoting a positive image of the organization.
Key Results Areas (KRAs):
- Triage, prioritize, and sort specimens appropriately for accessioning and processing.
- Perform data entry login of patient demographics, specimen source, and test(s) orders from requisitions into the LIS computer system according to the given protocol with minimal errors
- Accurately labels specimen(s) and timely distributes to the grossing area.
- Accurately documents any orders lacking required documentation and all problem cases appropriately.
- Review specimen requisitions against data entry of information for accuracy, document errors, correct errors, and escalate to supervisor based on necessity.
- Discard trash and packages in biohazard containers for proper disposal.
- File slides and requisitions daily
- Package and return slides back to offices via FedEx
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High School education or GED required, some college preferred or 1 years working in a lab setting.
- Excellent data entry skills required.
- Experience in the medical field preferred.
