POSITION PURPOSE/STATEMENT
Deliver on University Credit Union’s CHAMPION Values to engage in behaviors that create member and team member loyalty.
The Payments Specialist will assist in Payments projects. They will perform necessary functions to establish and maintain credit, debit, ATM, and Online Banking accounts and services. The Specialist will provide support to members, both internal and external, via various channels, while promoting all products and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Process lost and stolen reports and maintain files. Process credit/debit card and ATM fraud and dispute claims. Have a thorough understanding of Mastercard rules and regulations and regulatory requirements related to card fraud and dispute processes.
- Provide information and services to all members regarding credit, debit, ATM, digital banking and other related company products. Cross-sell products and services when appropriate.
- Wire processing, which will include processing incoming and verification of outgoing wires. Must understand the recall and tracing process.
- Exception processing and research and adjustment for deposits, drafts, and ACH, including ACH Origination and Disputes and Check Fraud Claims.
- Troubleshoot digital banking services, including Bill Pay, External Transfer, Person Pay, and Mobile/ Remote Deposit.
- Assist with other related payment operations and tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Symitar and Synapsys is preferred.
- Must have two to five years of similar and/or dispute-related positions.
- Minimum high school degree or GED required.
- Must have courtesy, tact and diplomacy, and strong attention to detail.
- Must be willing to speak to members and have good telephone skills.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to work with others inside and outside the Credit Union generally for routine matters of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly requires shorter discussions.
- Must have experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Must be a team player and collaborate with others.
- All team members must adhere to regulatory, compliance, and organizational guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including a computer, telephone, copier, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for extended periods daily. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular reliable, and timely attendance that aligns with the pacific time zone.
MENTAL AND/OR EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
