Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - UDA @ New Mexico State University
UDA is looking for a full-time Assistant Soccer coach for our University Men's Soccer Academy located on campus at New Mexico State University. UDA is a "one-of-a-kind" men's collegiate level Soccer Academy with Academies located in the United Kingdom as well as on campus at New Mexico State University.
UDA competes across multiple playing platforms that include the USL, UPSL and NIRSA soccer leagues. We play a competitive schedule in both the Fall and Spring seasons while providing developmental opportunities for ALL players on our Academy Roster.
UDA@NMSU provides local, state, regional and national level players the opportunity to play in a year-round developmental academy program that provides multiple pathways both academically and athletically.
Perfect opportunity for a collegiate men's or women's Graduate Assistant to step into a full-time position with head coaching possibilities (UDA 2nd Team).
Roles and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
Report lines
- Reports directly to the UDA Academy Director and Head Technical Director/Head Coach
- Reports to the NMSU program director
- Reports to the UDA board
Recruitment
- Directly responsible for recruitment and maintaining an academy with 40 players within two years of working with the UDA staff
- Attends weekly UDA meetings with the head of coaching and/or program director.
- Works across all UDA operations as a “team player” to help improve the student experience and strategically plan for new and potential growth in operations/opportunities.
- Undertakes all operations needed for successful recruitment, outreach, showcase events, follow-up, scheduling visits, phone calls, and emails as needed to meet the required academy target and mapping document targets.
- Schedules academic calls with UDA staff for recruitment
Retention goals
- Responsible with staff program director and head of coaching for a 75% retention rate annually.
On-Field Coaching Duties
- Available Monday to Friday within time frames needed for on-field training sessions and or related sessions relating to S&C, Sports Psychology, and Match Analysis, as well as Saturday/Sunday game day (home or away)
- Head Coach of the UDA 2nd Team
- Ensures that all student's game time is monitored with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach to ensure we meet the 20 games per year promise on students' contracts
- Delivers two specialized GK sessions per week along with selected outfield players if needed
- Works with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach for the UDA 2nd Team
- Works with players individually for technical or functional training as required outside of regular training hours.
- Uses Training/Match data on players for individual feedback
- Uses Technology for match analysis (Veo, Player 360, Player GPS)
- Game Day Operations (Field set up)
Off-Field Student Player Development.
- Works with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach for evaluative feedback of students with other coaching staff players Individual Improvement Plan (IIP); a formative assessment By Dec 15th with a formal summative written assessment by April 15th, specifically the UDA 2nd Team.
- Works on a summer training program for all students with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach to be hosted on Player 360
- Works with the NMSU Strength and Conditioning program within the student's timetable to develop an individualized S&C program for players.
- Assists with the development of a diet and nutrition plan for UDA players
- Assists with the development of a general sports psychology program
- Oversight of a student leadership team that reports to the Head Technical Director/Head Coach
- Plan travel logistics for matches, including hotel bookings
Admin Duties related to the soccer program
- Organizes with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach and NMSU Program Director on all team transport/accommodation needs for training and games
- Holds a bi-weekly meeting with the Support Staff to review students' progress and needs.
- Works with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach regarding day-to-day operations relating to training, games, coaching, and student support
- Works with the UDA account office via the NMSU Academy Director to ensure that the “cleared to play” list aligns with students' agreed payment schedules.
- Ensuring team rosters are accurate, with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach, and updated as needed during both Fall and Spring semesters
- Help with scheduling field, futsal, weights, and matches (USL, UPSL, NIRSA, Friendlies)
Summer Camp / Clinic:
- Works to build and support UDA Residential Team / Individual Camp
- Local Youth Clinic Support / Promotion
- Build relationships with local HS / MS soccer programs
General Duties for Success of the Program
- Helps build content for the social media platforms for promotion and sent to our social media department that covers the training, playing, social and cultural connections of students at the program, including highlights of academic achievements of the present player
- Helps coordinate out reach, with the Head Technical Director/Head Coach, to NMSU departments, including but not limited to journalism, photography, and media for student interns for coverage of the UDA experience, specifically the coverage of games via team app as they occur as well as generally reporting for UDA social media
