Job Description
The Nurse Midwife is an advanced practice registered nurse who under indirect supervision of the collaborating physician, provides patient care and education to assigned caseload of obstetrical and gynecological patients in accordance with established midwifery practice guidelines. Educates medical and nursing students and resident staff in normal childbirth and midwifery practices. Maintains an advanced knowledge base and skill in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical/psychosocial assessment, and management of health and illness in the care of individuals.
Minimum Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing
- Maintain current licensed as a registered professional nurse in Missouri
- Graduation and certification for Nurse Practitioner program; must maintain active certification
- Certification as Nurse Midwife by American College of Nurse-Midwifes Certification Council and/or recognized Nurse Midwife by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.

- Holds current Collaborative Practice Arrangement with the organization as a provider
- Practice Arrangement with the organization as a provider
- Current BCLS verification
- Demonstrates clinical expertise in area of specialty practice
- Demonstrates leadership ability
