POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, the Charter School Health Technician (HT) is responsible for school health tasks including providing direct clinical care, health promotion, data collection and disease surveillance, and support for health education within the assigned charter school campus. A HT also facilitates virtual visits with a Charter School Nurse Practitioner (APRN).
Location: Kawaikini New Century PCS (Kauai)
Hours per week: 32.5; Mon-Fri 7:30am-2:030pm
Pay rate: $25.00 per hour
Paid leave: Spring, fall and winter breaks according to the school calendar

- This position is not scheduled to work during the summer break.
Education/Training/Experience
Minimum
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or current BLS Certification
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant or have completed a Nurse Assistant program and are willing to obtain certification within six months of hire or certification in a related healthcare field or specialty
- Experience as a CNA or MA and/or equivalent experience in a health related field
- Experience working in a clinical setting
- Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant
- Previous experience as a Hawaii Keiki Health Technician
Minimum
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with adult and pediatric populations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Customer service skills
- Familiarity with patient confidentiality laws (HIPAA)
- Working knowledge of vital sign measurement
- Working knowledge of wound care/First Aid
- Knowledge of nursing procedures and techniques
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with CLIA regulations for waived tests
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations for bloodborne pathogens
- Familiarity with Educational Confidentiality laws (FERPA)
