POSITION SUMMARY
School nursing practice requires the combination of professional clinical nursing practice with a specialized element that promotes health, well-being, academic achievement, and success of the school-age child. The school nurse is responsible for working closely with school administrators, teachers, classroom assistants, office personnel, and providing health guidance in addition to carrying out a wide range of school health activities. The Charter School RN is primarily responsible for providing professional development and supervision to Charter School Health Technicians (from the Hawaii Keiki (HK) Program) with the support of the Charter School APRN. The Charter School RN will also participate in committees and stakeholder groups supporting nursing practice in the school setting.
Meeting of the employee’s professional responsibility will be in line with the duties described below and in coordination with the Employee’s supervisor. While the Employee is not required to report to schools on days when campuses are closed, it is expected that the Employee will meet their professional responsibilities to the schools and program which may include attendance at scheduled meetings during non-student days. The Employee is expected to be physically present at each supervising school weekly and will have one administrative day each week to perform administrative and supervisory duties where they will be available to attend meetings and be available to staff via phone and email.
This Hybrid position works 1-2 days from home and 3-4 days at school sites.

Full-Time Mon-Fri 7:30am - 4:00pm, 10 Month Employee
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education, Training & Experience:
Minimum:
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Possession of a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Hawai'i.
- BLS for healthcare provider certification
- 2 years of experience in primary care or public health setting.
- Knowledge of state medical information release procedures and laws.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA rules, regulations, and compliance.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations for bloodborne pathogens.
