What are the responsibilities and job description for the Complex Area APRN - Kalama Intermediate School and BKKM CA position at University Health Partners of Hawaii?
POSITION SUMMARY
School nursing practice requires the combination of professional clinical nursing practice with promotion of the health, well-being, academic achievement, and success of the school-age child. The Complex Area APRN is called upon to work closely with RNs, Health Technician (HT), and the school health assistant (SHA) to provide primary care services to children in the health room utilizing a virtual platform. The Complex Area APRN is responsible for providing professional development to the Hawaii Keiki Complex RNs across the state. This is a leadership position that will train, clinically advise, mentor and support Hawaii Keiki Staff. The Complex Area APRN will also participate in the committees and stakeholder groups supporting nursing practice in the school setting.
Location: Samuel E. Kalama Intermediate School and BKKM Complex Area
Full-Time Mon-Fri 7:30am - 3:30pm, 10 Month Employee
Paid Time off includes all HIDOE holidays and breaks (Fall, Winter, Spring break, Summer break) sick leave and flex time off
10 Month Employee: Will follow the HIDOE Teacher Schedule. While the Employee is not required to report to the school or complex area superintendent’s office when DOE schools are closed, it is expected that the employee will meet their professional responsibilities to the program which will include attendance at scheduled meetings and events during non-student days.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum:
- A graduate degree in nursing and license as an APRN and/or APRN Rx
- BLS/ Healthcare Provider certification.
- One year of experience in community-based health settings, school nursing or pediatric nursing.
- Experience with the use of electronic health records and reporting
Preferred:
- Possession of an APRN and/or APRN Rx license in the State of Hawai'i.
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
- Certification as a nurse practitioner in an area of specialty by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or other nationally recognized certification.
- Eligible for or certified as a School Health Nurse by the National Board for Certification of School Nurses.
- Experience working as a school nurse or in a school-based health center.
- Experience providing telephone triage and/or telehealth services.
