POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
The medical economics analyst is responsible for supporting the chief financial officer with the budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis functions to ensure the achievement of medical expense and gross margin. This position is responsible for supporting the functions of the annual budget and forecast and analysis and interpretation of monthly operating results. The medical economics analyst will work collaboratively under the supervision of the chief financial officer to ensure the health plans and the organization are focused on current results vs. budget, current operating performance trends, and the identification and execution of initiatives to properly manage medical expenses and gross margin.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare, or a related field is required. Twenty-four semester hours of accounting courses are preferred. Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 4 years of financial and statistical experience in medical expense analysis is required. Proficiency with a window-based environment, particularly Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of information systems, including database design, preferably Microsoft Access. Previous HMO/managed care industry experience preferred.
