What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Clinical Risk Management position at University Health System- San Antonio?
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for clinical risk management oversight within University Health, which includes, but may not be limited to, managing claims against the facility, interfacing with legal counsel, administering the clinical risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing clinical risk management data, conducting clinical risk management educational programs, complying with clinical risk management related regulatory and accreditation standards, all with the objective of maintaining patient safety, enhancing quality care and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the Health System. Plans daily department operations, maintains appropriate staffing, training and supervision. Plans and implements departmental budget and program activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. An advanced degree (Master's level or beyond) in a relevant field of study is preferred. Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Three years' experience in health care risk management is required, as well as extensive experience and knowledge related to regulatory and statutory entities impacting general acute care facilities. A minimum of three (3) years clinical experience, or its equivalent, in a general acute facility is highly recommended.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Certification by the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, or the equivalent, is highly recommended.
