What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Outreach Specialist PRN position at University Health?
POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the Injury Prevention staff, to provide effective and comprehensive research-based education to families in the community on child passenger safety (CPS). This person will utilize the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines for CPS education – selection, direction, location, installation, and harnessing. This person will work on a PRN basis to help Injury Prevention staff with child safety seat inspections and Safe Kids events throughout the community.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Experience in injury prevention education in a community health setting is preferred. Experience in public and / or educational presentations, individually or in groups, demonstrating effective communication skills is required. English / Spanish fluency is preferred. Child passenger safety technician certification within 6 months of hire is required. Must have at least 3 months experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
A valid Texas State DL operator’s license is “Class C” and must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
