University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. UHP is also the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers/University Health in Kansas City, MO. known as "Kansas City's Essential Hospital," it is the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO. University Health Physicians and University Health is currently seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our medical staff in providing psychiatric services in a medical inpatient hospital setting.
This position will work as leader of a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatry residents, medical students and medical social workers. Other duties will include: providing coverage at either of our two adult inpatient psychiatric hospitals and lead a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatry residents, medical students, psychologists, nurses, recreational therapists and medical social workers. Participation in hospital-based committees and providing lectures to other medical specialties is encouraged.
The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school, completing a residency in psychiatry (experience in psychosomatic medicine preferred, but not required)
